Utah Changes

Changes to the Utah Jazz have started. Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver have moved on to Chicago. Boozer never really seemed to want to stay in Utah. The only way Utah was going to keep Boozer was to vastly over pay for his services.
So letting him go to Chicago was a good move by the Jazz. Chicago and Boozer were nice enough to do a sign and trade deal, which will give Utah a big trade exception. The trade exception will be the same amount Boozer will be earning in his first year with Chicago. The Jazz have said they have already begun to look for players to use that exception on through a trade. Korver's shooting will be missed in Utah.

Jazz restricted free agent, Wesley Matthews signed an offer sheet from the Portland Trailblazers. The offer is reported to be for five years and about $33 million. The Blazers have front loaded the contract in hopes that it will be too much for the Jazz to match. Matthews will earn just over $9 million in the first year. The Jazz now have seven days to decide whether to match the offer or not.
There is a little more pressure on the Jazz to match the offer sheet now that Korver has moved on to Chicago.

Many Jazz fans will remember that the Blazers did this last year to the Jazz as well. Last year the Blazers signed forward Paul Millsap to a front loaded contract that the Jazz eventually matched.

The Jazz are looking at other options as well. There are rumors that Utah is looking at former Jazz player Ronnie Brewer. The Jazz have also looked into Miami free agent Udonis Haslem.
